Beat Making Lab

Music can transform individuals and communities. Beat Making Lab is an electronic music studio small enough to fit in a backpack. Founders, Pierce Freelon and Apple Juice Kid initiated a grassroots campaign and crowd-sourced funds to build a community Beat Making Lab in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. Their efforts culminated in a collaboration with PBS, who will be airing webisodes from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Panama, Senegal, Fiji and Ethiopia for the first season, each Wednesday on PBS Digital Studios’ Beat Making Lab channel. To help tie the effort together a few folks at McKinney volunteered their time and talent to create a logo and four second video wrapper stop motion animation.
